Our Biodiversity and Wildlife Solutions (BWS) program tackles the most pressing conservation problems of our time—the approaching extinction of endangered wildlife and threats to habitats, including tropical forests where most of the world’s species reside—through technological innovation, ambitious global agreements, and targeted land protection.
Through WildTech@RESOLVE, we design, introduce, and scale new technologies such as TrailGuard™ AI, an anti-poaching camera trap system deployed in several African reserves, and LionShield™, a real-time detection-deterrence alarm system to prevent human-wildlife conflict. In Tanzania, we are teaching communities to build chili fences for crop protection and training rangers to use drones to remotely herd elephants away from farmland and community areas.
On a global scale, we convene leading conservation scientists to advance the goal of protecting half the terrestrial realm. This work informs the Nature Needs Half movement and our partnership with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation to create The Global Safety Net, a first-of-its-kind effort to map how to save life on Earth.
Through the Quick Response Fund for Nature, we provide strategic grants that help secure and conserve critical pieces of land for threatened species. By engaging with a broad range of actors, including community stakeholders, and forming key partnerships with organizations like Intel, Google, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and the National Geographic Society, we accomplish ambitious conservation goals at local and global scales.
