Using the market for good

Our Responsible Growth program addresses policy and market gaps by designing, funding, and launching innovative impact enterprises, which are for-profit businesses that solve social and environmental challenges. The program comprises the global impact@RESOLVE platform and place-based ReGrow projects.

The impact@RESOLVE platform is managed under our Responsible Growth program, but it is an approach used across our programs. The platform is also available to our foundation, nongovernmental organization, agency, and corporate partners. ReGrow projects inject capacity into economically challenged regions around the world and within the United States by concentrating impact enterprises and impact investment. These place-based interventions rely on partnerships and the complementary use of donor funding and private-sector investment, or “blended finance.”

RESOLVE’s first ReGrow Project, ReGrow West Africa, was launched in January 2017 to stimulate post-Ebola private-sector recovery in Sierra Leone. ReGrow West Africa provides business training and loans to a wide range of small- and medium-sized businesses, from solar energy companies to vocational schools. Our partners include the U.S. Agency for International Development, Chevron, the government of Sierra Leone, and others.
