Workshop Summary
Participants
On October 3, 2017, following the release of the PSR's water testing standards, the CFSF met again to discuss stakeholder concerns with the codified rule and potential revisions to the standards and testing requirements for agricultural water that would make them more feasible and appropriate for growers across the country. The meeting followed FDA’s announcements that it extended compliance dates for agriculture water requirements and will revisit the requirements to ensure they are feasible for growers and regulators through continued stakeholder outreach. Discussion included proposals for how to amend the agriculture water requirements within the rule’s current framework to address near-term challenges, as well as, and potentially in combination with, ideas for novel frameworks that could improve the confidence in and measurability of the rule’s public health impact long-term as new science becomes available.
