About
The Public-Private Alliance for Responsible Minerals Trade (PPA) is a multi-sector initiative between leaders in civil society, industry, and government that supports projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the surrounding Great Lakes Region of Central Africa (GLR) that improve the due diligence and governance systems needed for ethical supply chains. Funded projects bring in-region benefits and complement government initiatives, with a focus on developing tools and building civil society capacity to support responsible minerals sourcing and trading. We convene and facilitate timely dialogue among key regional and international actors.

PPA Request for Abstracts
The PPA recently distributed a request for abstracts (EN, FR, SP) as part of a planning process to convene a Data for Impact Symposium in Fall 2023. The Symposium will profile existing tools, methodologies, models, indicators, systems, and other approaches that could provide a basis for a sustainable, just framework to build data sets and analysis and inform future action for improved socioeconomic outcomes and local benefits. An overview of last year's event can be found here.
The 2023 Symposium will seek to address enduring questions regarding impacts from due diligence efforts, as well as other socio-economic interventions in minerals supply chains. As the PPA is expanding its focus beyond 3TG and the Great Lakes Region, we are also keen for this year’s forum to collect additional insights that can apply to emerging risks and opportunities in the context of the green energy transition.
The PPA is composed of companies and governments who make substantial investments in responsible minerals sourcing, and NGOs who utilize and input into due diligence and other data systems. The Symposium will be attended by PPA members as well as selected invitees – other donors, investors, and potential users of the tools, methodologies, and approaches to be presented. The PPA is committed to helping to facilitate connections between promising tools/models/ and prospective users and investors.
The Symposium will be held virtually. The deadline to submit an abstract is June 23, 2023.
